Man Dies in Vacaville Fire

VACAVILLE, Calif. (KCBS)- An elderly man died late Friday night after a two-alarm fire swept through his single family home in a quiet Vacaville neighborhood.

According to Vacaville City Fire Battalion Chief John Jansen, crews were dispatched to the blaze at around 10:30 p.m.

"Upon arrival, we had a house in a nice older neighborhood with heavy flames coming from the front of the house, out the front window and front door," Jansen said.

He says after firefighters knocked down the flames, they conducted a search of home on Arbor Street and found the body of the lone occupant inside.

The man has not yet been identified, but Jansen says he was a long-time resident of the home.

He says investigators are still searching for a cause of the fire and are focusing their efforts on a tip that the man liked to light candles inside his home.
