Four Presumed Dead After Boat Sinks Near Point Reyes

The Coast Guard has called off its search for two missing boaters presumed drowned after a vessel capsized in rough surf north of Point Reyes Wednesday afternoon.

Two other victims were found dead. The Coast Guard says there were not wearing any life vests.

The boat capsized around noon Wednesday, near Abbots Lagoon. The 24-foot craft had launched from Bodega Bay.

A 47-foot Coast Guard vessel searched for the two missing boaters until 10:30 Wednesday night, but did not plan to resume a search for the victims Thursday.

The names of the victims have been withheld until their family members are notified.
