Dems to Propose Vehicle License Fee Hike

SACRAMENTO (KCBS)_ State Democratic leaders are planning to release a new budget proposal today.

The plan includes an income tax increase and vehicle license fee hike.

Those increases would be offset by federal tax deductions for most residents, according to Legislators.

The plan also includes a state sales tax decrease and a $2 billion rollback in corporate tax benefits.

Republicans say they will oppose some of the plan's main components.

California has been without a budget for 34 days. The state is facing a $19 billion deficit.
