Pittsburg Man Charged in Counterfeiting Money

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) --A Bay Area man has been charged with making counterfeit money and possessing drugs in Maryland.

Twenty-five-year-old Ward Hoye of Pittsburg, was arrested Thursday.

Deputies say Hoye tried to pay for items at an electronics store, but the cashier noticed the money was fake and told him. Hoye paid for the items with real money and left.

A short time later, sheriff's deputies arrested Hoye. Authorities say they found suspected methamphetamine in his car, plus drug paraphernalia and items associated with making counterfeit money.

Deputies say they also found a counterfeit bill on Hoye.
