Governor Tours Silicon Valley Company

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KCBS) _ One day before leaving for China, Governor Schwarzenegger toured Santa Clara-based Marvell Semiconductor.

It is just the beginning of a three country Asian trade mission in which the governor will also be visiting Marvell's plant in Shanghai.

"Trade creates one out of seven jobs here in California. We export more than $120 billion worth of goods every year to 220 markets worldwide," said Schwarzenegger. "Increasing trade even more and creating jobs and growing our economy has been a top priority of mine and of my administration."

A number of high-tech leaders will be accompanying the governor on his trade mission, which will also include stops in Tokyo and Seoul.

"Why is this important to Silicon Valley? It's obvious," said Carl Guardino, President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. "As we increase and expand trade, especially in markets as big as Asia, that increases and expands our economic competitiveness in Silicon Valley and as a state."

Marvell Semiconductor, which was founded in 1995, now has about 5,000 employees worldwide.
