AG: All Local Officials' High Salaries To Be Reviewed
State Attorney General Jerry Brown has indicated he wants to review the salaries of all local government officials in California who earn more than $300,000 dollars.
The notice comes after the revelation that the city manager in the Southern California town of Bell was earning nearly $800,000 a year. No city manager in the Bay Area earns nearly that much, but some make more than $300,000 a year. Herb Moniz, for example, San Ramon's city manager, earned almost $360,000 last year.
Numbers from the California League of Cities indicate the city managers of Sunnyvale, Danville, and Livermore also made more than $300,000.
Both San Ramon's mayor and the city's manager have not returned calls seeking comment.
