Concord Officer Expected To Recover From Crash

CONCORD (AP) - A Concord motorcycle officer was seriously injured when he was hit by a car on Monday morning, but his colleagues are hopeful that he will make a full recovery, Concord police Lt. Brandon Richey said Tuesday.

The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. on Alberta Way in front of Clayton Valley High School.

The officer, who has been with the department for about 15 years, was riding south on Alberta Way when a car headed in the opposite direction made a left turn in front of him to go into the school's parking lot.

The driver of that car stopped afterward and cooperated with police.

Responding officers transported the injured officer to a hospital, Richey said.
