SAN LEANDRO (BCN) – San Leandro police have released the identities of two young men shot to death at a party at a golf club over the weekend.
Maurius “TJ” Robinson, a 19-year-old Oakland resident, and Kwame Nunn, an 18-year-old Mountain House resident, were shot at about 9:50 p.m. Saturday at the Wedges Bar & Grill at the Monarch Bay Golf Club, police said.
They were attending a party when gunfire opened on the dance floor, police said. Two other Oakland residents between ages 18 and 21 years old were shot.
They were taken to Eden Medical Center and released Saturday night.
Tuesday afternoon, investigators met with the party promoter, who cooperated with police and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
Police said the promoter said he was upset about the shooting and didn’t plan to host or promote any more parties.
The party was advertised on Facebook less than a week before it was held, police said. About 6,000 people viewed the event page, and 600 said they would attend.
Text messaging, email, and AOL Instant Messaging were also used to disseminate information about the party.
Anyone who paid a $10 cover charge and met the minimum dress requirements was admitted, police said.
This type of party typically needs to undergo an application process and be granted a permit by the city of San Leandro, police said.
No such requests for this party were filed.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Sgt. Robert McManus at (510) 577-3237 or the anonymous tip line at (510) 577-3278.
Crime Stoppers of Southern Alameda County is also offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. The Crime Stoppers hotline can be reached at (510) 293-7197. Anonymous callers can receive the reward.
