Unique Oakland-Based Online Store Offers Fresh Foods

OAKLAND (KCBS) - Former Bay Area restaurants owners have created a unique market offering artisan foods.

Chris Lee and Samin Nosrat, founders of the Pop Up General Store in Oakland, said they offer fresh foods that just can't compare to regular store-bought items.

Lee and Nosrat, formerly of Eccolo Restaurant in Oakland that closed last year, have brought together vendors and chefs from all over the Bay Area to create fresh foods available for pick up. Most of the chefs have worked at Chez Panisse in Berkeley. Customers can order items online and check the website for the current locations. Drop ins are welcome as well.

Nosrat said some of their artisan foods include English muffins, mole, pizza, breads, jam, and sweet and salty desserts.
