2 Dead, 1 Hurt In Crash On Hwy. 101 Off-Ramp In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS/BCN) -- Two women died and another person was injured in a crash off of  southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose Saturday morning, according to the Santa  Clara County medical examiner's office.

The solo-vehicle crash was reported at about 7:45 a.m. near the off-ramp to Blossom Hill Road from southbound Highway 101, California Highway  Patrol Officer Eric Anderson said.

The vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree near the right  hand shoulder, Anderson said.

Two woman were killed in the crash, while a third person in the  car was taken to a local hospital where they were reportedly in stable  condition, according to the medical examiner's office.

The medical examiner's office was working this afternoon on  identifying the two women who died and notifying their families.

The crash caused the closure of the Blossom Hill Road off-ramp for  nearly four hours. It was reopened at about 11:30 a.m.
