Shotgun-Toting Petaluma Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

PETALUMA (BCN) - A 47-year-old man was being held at Marin County Jail on suspicion of the attempted murder of two people in a Petaluma parking lot.

Several callers reported a man holding a rifle in the parking lot of Raley's located at 157 N. McDowell Blvd. at about 5:20 p.m. Thursday.

Arriving officers found William Boone, of Petaluma, standing outside a vehicle and aiming a shotgun at two people sitting inside the vehicle.

Officers yelled to Boone to drop his weapon, which Boone surrendered to police.

Boone was subsequently booked at Marin County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held without bail.

An investigation determined that Boone knew the two victims, who were uninjured from the exchange.
