SANTA CRUZ (AP) — The owners of a Santa Cruz ice cream shop have received a sweet surprise: a thank-you phone call from Vice President Joe Biden.
Biden made the call to Zach Davis and Kendra Baker—owners of the 2-month-old Penny Ice Creamery—on Wednesday to thank them for a YouTube video the two made praising the economic stimulus act.
Stimulus funds provided the backing Davis and Baker needed to obtain a $250,000 loan to start the artisanal ice cream shop.
On the five-minute call, Biden called the YouTube clip “damn good” and said he was coming for ice cream.
A video of the call was posted on the vice president’s Web page.
Baker told the Santa Cruz Sentinel she was honored and proud to
have received the call.
