Good Samaritan Rescues Boaters From Water Near Mare Island

SAN PABLO (BCN) -- A good Samaritan rescued two men from San Pablo Bay Friday after they fell out of their boat near Mare Island, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The two men, who are believed to be Vallejo residents, were on a 17-foot Boston Whaler just south of Mare Island about 1:48 p.m. when they fell into the water, Coast Guard search and rescue controller Danielle Couture said.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused them to fall out of the boat, but luckily for them, another boater saw the accident and alerted the Coast Guard, Couture said.

After calling it in, the boater, who was in a 17-foot aluminum boat, raced over to the men, pulled them out of the water and brought them to shore.

Couture said the men were a bit shaken by the accident, but uninjured.
