Santa Rosa Woman Arrested For Fatal Hit-And-Run On Highway 101

SANTA ROSA (AP) -- A 32-year-old Santa Rosa woman is facing charges after police say a passenger riding in the open bed of her pickup truck fell out of the truck onto Highway 101 in Santa Rosa and was killed.

The California Highway Patrol says Share Rubi Ann Martinez was arrested late Thursday on suspicion of manslaughter, felony DUI and felony hit and run.

CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat said that investigators believe that Martinez knew that Enrique Ramirez Alvarez had fallen out of the truck, but did not stop to help.

The CHP says 21-year-old Alvarez was hit by another vehicle after the fall onto the highway.

It was not known if Martinez had retained an attorney.
