Body Of Missing Santa Rosa Boater Found In Marin County Wetlands
SAN RAFAEL (AP) -- Authorities have recovered the body of a Santa Rosa man who disappeared after he fell overboard from his sailboat earlier this month.
Authorities say the body of 28-year-old Casey Speed was spotted by a bird-watcher in a wetlands area near the Marin County community of Strawberry around 5 p.m. Friday.
Speed disappeared on the night of Dec. 10 when his wife says he fell overboard while their 32-foot sailboat was anchored in Richardson Bay, near Tiburon.
Speed's wife told the U.S. Coast Guard that he was not wearing a life preserver when he fell.
Coast Guard officials said they do not believe foul play was involved.
