Missing Tahoe Snowboarder Found Dead
TRUCKEE (AP) - Placer County authorities say they've found the body of a woman who went missing while snowboarding at a Lake Tahoe-area resort.
Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Ausnow said Thursday morning that searchers found the body, but didn't immediately give any other information.
Reporter Mike Simpson:
Twenty-five-year-old Shawnte Marie Willis became separated from her friends Tuesday afternoon at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort.
Searchers employed a military helicopter with infrared technology to look for her, as well as crews on the ground.
Willis' family in Humboldt County had described her as a strong athlete who works as a ski instructor. But they worried about Willis' epilepsy and said it could be triggered by the extreme stress of being lost in the snow.
