Crash On Interstate 580 Kills One, Closes Lanes

OAKLAND (BCN) -- The California Highway Patrol reopened eastbound Interstate 580 in Oakland Sunday morning where a fatal crash blocked the roadway for nearly three hours, an officer said.

Units responded to reports of a crash involving a white sport utility vehicle and gold sedan on eastbound Highway 580 near Dutton Avenue at 6:05 a.m., CHP Officer Eric Anderson said.

One person was killed in the crash and at least one more has been taken to a hospital with injuries, Anderson said.

Eastbound traffic was diverted off the highway at 106th Street while authorities clear the crash.
