Woman Walking Dog Killed In Concord Hit-And-Run

CONCORD (CBS/AP) -- Police are seeking a driver they say fled after fatally striking a woman who was in the road because she had just been hit by another car.

Authorities say the 53-year-old victim was walking her dog in Concord on Sunday around 5:50 p.m. when she stepped into the road and was hit by a 17-year-old driver.

KCBS' Dave Padilla Reports:

The driver got out to check on the injured woman, who was then hit by dark-colored four-door hatchback driving the same way.

The Contra Costa Times reports that the young man driving the second car stopped briefly to talk with the first driver before leaving the scene.

The woman and her dog were pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released.
