Tech Watch: The Future Of Home Automation

(KCBS) – The home of the future may be fully automated, where everything from your television to your home security could be controlled by the same system.

CNET Editor at Large Brian Cooley said Vivint, a home security company, is one of several looking to expand into the home automation field.

Cooley said many of these utility-run smart-grid programs give consumers the ability to monitor their electricity usage and program appliances to run at off-peak times, all in an effort to save money.
