Daily Madden: Temporary Bragging Rights

(KCBS) – The Giants weren’t number one until the end of World Series Game Five. The Packers weren’t number one until the last play of the Super Bowl. So John asks why Kansas was number one in the middle of the college basketball season. Kansas State asked the same question, ending the Jayhawks brief reign last night.

John recalls his first meeting in St. Louis with baseball legend Stan Musial, who will be honored with the Medal of Freedom by President Obama. Madden likes the plan to extend Albert Pujols’ Cardinals contract deadline out of respect for Musial’s special day.

With so little time now between the end of football and the start of baseball, John asks if sports fans can do without basketball.

And yes, Jesse, Super Bowl Sunday is a holiday.
