Obama To Meet Silicon Valley Execs Over Budget Proposals

SANTA CLARA (KCBS) - President Obama plans to visit the Bay Area Thursday for a private meeting with Silicon Valley executives to talk about tech innovation and to drum up support for his just-released budget.

According to the White House, one of the President's focuses during his overnight stay will be on creating green jobs.

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

Meanwhile, a Senate subcommittee holds a hearing Tuesday about green jobs and trade.

Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont said green jobs are about much more than just getting people back to work.

"We're going to make the case that moving toward green jobs is terribly important for our economy, it's important for our environment and it's important from the perspective of not getting us into wars for oil," said Sen. Sanders.

After the President meets with Silicon Valley technology leaders, he is scheduled to travel to Oregon on Friday with Intel CEO Paul Otellini for a personal tour of the chip company's newest semiconductor plant which is currently under construction.
