(KCBS) – KCBS Entertainment Editor Jan Wahl reviews the new Farrelly Brothers comedy.
HALL PASS (R)
I don’t know anyone like the people in this movie. Then again I don’t know anyone like The Housewives Beverly Hills/Atlanta or Kardashians..I stay away from stupid. In this new Farrelly Brothers movie, two married suburban men are yearning for the freedom of youth..mostly in the guise of hot, sexy gals just waiting to get intimate with desperate, middle-aged guys. Their wives are apparently used to eternal adolescent behavior from their spouses, so they give them a hall pass in this time of sexually transmitted diseases to fool around for a week with anyone they want. Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis are the lackluster leads, with the usually good Christina Applegate and Jenna Fisher given the thankless role of evil wives keeping their child-men from having fun..a great message for the young boys who will see this movie, since it will be playing everywhere. A far cry from the fun of There’s Something About Mary, the Farrelly Brothers have found out that raunchy, scatalogical and a lack of wit sells. No hats.
