SAN MATEO (BCN) – The California Highway Patrol cleared an overturned armored truck that blocked two westbound lanes on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge just west of the toll plaza for more than an hour Friday morning.

The CHP cleared the wreck at 8:47 a.m. the Brinks armored truck  blocking two middle lanes, Sgt. John Carman said.

The solo-vehicle crash was reported shortly after 7:20 a.m. just west of the toll plaza, snarling the morning commute traffic on the bridge, Carman said.

  1. Jay Tomjanovich says:

How does an armored truck overturn immediately after exiting the toll booth?
Looking at the pictures and video on Channel 5, he literally overturned just as he went through the booth.
I can only think of one scenario that would make him overturn – high speed and a sharp turn.

Today’s good news of the unemployment rate at 8.9% will rise to 9.0% tomorrow morning, thanks to that armored truck driver.

  3. Tony Chung says:

Thanks to this guy I missed my work shuttle. If only I left my house 10 mins earlier….would have missed this.
