Cal Women Advance To Pac-10 Semifinals

LOS ANGELES (CBS / AP) -- Layshia Clarendon scored 22 points and hit four key free throws in the final 32 seconds as California beat Arizona State 48-43 on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the Pac-10 tournament.

Talia Caldwell had nine points and nine rebounds for the sixth-seeded Golden Bears (17-14), who scored the game's final four points and will play second-seeded and No. 7 UCLA on Friday.

Becca Tobin led the third-seeded Sun Devils (20-10) with 10 points.

Arizona State trailed by three when Tenaya Watson rebounded her own miss and was fouled with 47 seconds left. She made both free throws to cut the lead to 44-43.

Dymond Simon then bumped Clarendon near midcourt with 32 seconds to play, and Clarendon hit both foul shots to put California ahead 46-43.

After Watson missed a short jumper, Clarendon went back to the foul line where she sealed the win.
