With two shows lined up at the Civic Auditorium, Janet Jackson gets intimate with her Bay Area fans during her 'Up Close and Personal' Tour

SAN FRANCISCO (CBSSF) – Ms. Jackson arrives in the Bay Area for two highly anticipated nights on Tuesday, April 19th & Wednesday, April 20th at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Jackson’s ‘Number Ones: Up Close and Personal’ Tour is the music icon’s sixth tour since her ‘Rhythm Nation Tour’ in 1990. Her last appearance in the Bay Area was in 2008 during her ‘Rock Witchu’ Tour at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.

Much different from her previous concerts, Janet Jackson’s ‘Up Close and Personal’ Tour is truly that, an intimate tribute to her fans. Jackson will be performing music exclusively from her latest album, ‘Janet: Number Ones’. This time around there will be no flashy pyrotechnics, maybe a little glitz and glam, but mainly, just Janet, her music and the fans that love her.

If you’re unfamiliar with the size of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, it is unlike the stadium sized Oracle Arena or the vast openness of the Shoreline Amphitheatre. At a third of their size, the ‘Civic’ will undoubtedly allow for a more intimate setting for Jackson to perform…exactly how she intended.

In addition to her concert tour, Janet Jackson is also on a nationwide book signing tour to promote her best-selling ‘self-help’ book, titled ‘True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself’. In her book, Jackson opens up about her struggles with her body image, her previous relationships and her famous family. The singer/actress also shares her health and fitness regimens that she has learned from her trainer and in addition, some recipes that changed her life.

Forget the Super Bowl incident and the strange marriages. It’s all about the multi-talented and inspirational, JANET.

Janet, I will always be a fan but the reality is that I had to pass on your “Number Ones: Up Close and Personal Tour” when you visited D.C. given the current economic climate – but I am sure you show was outstandng as always – I haven’t missed one of your shows since 1993, the Janet Tour. I saw you twice during the Janet Tour, once during the Velvet Rope Tour, 3 Times during the All4You Tour, and once during the RockWithYou Tour. I absolutely love you and wish you continued success during your tour.

The last Janet concert I went to was the Janet. Concert, and it has been years since i’ve been to a concert in general. I took my wife as a surprise to tonight’s show (4/19/11) at the Bill Graham Civic Center. The concert started about a hour late. Janet is an amazing performer. I loved ALL the songs she sang. About halfway through the concert the video screens went out, kind of annoying, we sat close enough to where we could see her (floor seats) but having the video screens helped. Anyhow the concert was about an hour and a half long and ended way too soon. I wish she would have sang more songs but I felt I got my money’s worth. The merchandise was a bit pricey ($40 for a tshirt, $75 for a sweatshirt, etc), but again, it’s Janet, so we paid for it. I would recommend this show to anyone who is a fan. I would have given it 5 stars but because she started late and the video screen problems, I felt 4 stars was fair.

This was my fourth Janet concert and I was highly pleased….It really doesn’t bother true Janet fans when the show starts late (its called anticipation) or the screens go out. A true Janet fan doesn’t go to a Janet concert to really see or hear anything, they go to feel something. I left the concert last night feeling like I was on top of the world and blessed to have been present when others could “feel” Janet too! I give the concert 100 stars!!!!

Janet is thee queen of pop!!!! And she proved it on her April 20th San Francisco Concert – in which I attended. She sang and danced her heart out!!! It truly was intimate and seeing her made one of my ultimate dreams come true!!! It will be a night that I will never forget:-) My only problem was that I wish the show was as long as the Rock Witchu Tour from 2008. That show was 2hrs and 45 min while her Number Ones tour was only an hour. I also wish that she had more costume changes then just wearing the same outfit the entire show. Plus – I miss seeing her reveal her 24 pack abs on stage. However – janet was in perfect form – not just physically but musically. Janet – “Your fans like myself love u forever!!!!!” Can’t wait for yr new album next year and world tour!!!!
