VALLEJO (CBS SF) — A 19-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in northern Vallejo, according to police.

The teen, whose identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was shot about 3 a.m. on Taper Avenue near Janice Street, police said.

He might have had contact with the suspects just prior to the shooting at a nearby Valero gas station located a couple of blocks away at 1610 Fairgrounds Drive.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective Matt Meredith at (707) 648-4509 or Detective Jason Potts at (707) 553-7258.

    why is he being referred to as a “teen?”, he’s 19!! and also, it’s a bad time for “teens” to be out in streets in the middle of the night or aka. teen party MORNING.
