Uncle Accidentally Runs Over, Kills 4-Year-Old In Sonoma

SONOMA (CBS/AP) -- A 4-year-old boy riding his bicycle on a private Sonoma County wine country dirt road was run over and killed by a pickup truck driven by his uncle.

The California Highway Patrol said the boy was riding his bike in a vineyard behind 34-year-old Gregorio Soto Reyes' pickup on Tuesday afternoon when the boy overtook the truck on a downhill grade.

CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat said the boy veered into the path of the pickup and was hit, knocking the child off his bike. The pickup, traveling at about 5 mph, then ran over the boy.

The boy's name wasn't released.

It appeared to be accidental and the CHP said Reyes was not arrested.
