Uncle Accidentally Runs Over, Kills 4-Year-Old In Sonoma

SONOMA (CBS/AP) — A 4-year-old boy riding his bicycle on a private Sonoma County wine country dirt road was run over and killed by a pickup truck driven by his uncle.

The California Highway Patrol said the boy was riding his bike in a vineyard behind 34-year-old Gregorio Soto Reyes’ pickup on Tuesday afternoon when the boy overtook the truck on a downhill grade.

CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat said the boy veered into the path of the pickup and was hit, knocking the child off his bike. The pickup, traveling at about 5 mph, then ran over the boy.

The boy’s name wasn’t released.

It appeared to be accidental and the CHP said Reyes was not arrested.

The man or whomever was suppose to be watching this kid should be charged for neglect.

  • kc

So sad, but someone seriously messed up by allowing a 4 yr.old on a trike by a truck in motion.

  • RealityCheck

Did either of you losers read the story?

@Kiley – there is no law that says you have to watch your kid out riding his bike on private or even public property for that matter.

@kc – where does it say he was on a trike? Granted his idiot uncle should have stopped the truck and let the kid pass him, but hey you cannot keep all accidents from happening.

Just remember life is tough, its even tougher if you’re stupid.

Hey “realitycheck”, you’re right, there is no law that stops a child from riding his bike or trike next to a ton of steel. There also is no law that tells fans not to lean over the rail at ballparks to reach for a ball. Its called “COMMON SENSE”! You can’t possibly have children, and if you do, I feel sorry for them! You’re an idiot!
