‘American Idol’ Final Three Shocker

LOS ANGELES (CBS) – After Wednesday night’s “American Idol” Final 4, it wasn’t obvious who the voters would send home. Lauren Alaina seemed to pick herself up after being in the bottom two last week, and Haley Reinhart came back with a great performance of “Trouble”. James Durbin and Scotty McCreery were in their respective hard rock and country grooves.

But after 72 million votes and performances by judge and Aerosmither Steven Tyler, Lady Gaga, Jordan Sparks and Enrique Iglesias, Scotty McCreery, Haley Reinhart and Lauren Alaina were safe, and Santa Cruz native, James Durbin was eliminated from the competition.

Apparently the voters were more into the country pair, Scotty and Lauren, and Haley’s bluesy vocals than James’ high notes, electric stage performances and heavy metal rock leanings.

James, I am not a heavy metal rock listener but after hearing you my feelings have changed. You are great and I am so so sorry to see you go. Even though you were not voted into the top 3 I do believe you are here (hear) to stay. You have been an inspiration to all of us that have a special needs child. Thank you for showing the world that just because a person has special needs does not mean they cannot succeed. I will be looking for you and cheering you on in all that you do. YOU ARE A GIFT. Denise (Grandparent of a special needs child)

James, I cried my eyes out after learning you were “voted” off. I hope this means you have a deal already? I was upset over Casey being wrongfully voted off and now you? As much as I like Lauren, the really talented are now gone and I will not watch the last 2 shows. It’s not worth my time nor my votes!! I am proud to be from the bay area knowing you are too!! I hope to maybe see you around in Santa Cruz!! But better than that, seeing you in videos, buying your albums, and watching you in concert!! You have a true GOD given talent and THANK YOU!! to you and your wife for sharing it with us!!
