Heckler From SF Interrupts Israeli PM's Speech To Congress
WASHINGTON (CBS / AP) -- A heckler briefly interrupted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to Congress before U.S. Capitol police removed the protester from the chamber.
As Netanyahu was addressing a joint meeting of Congress, a woman in the gallery stood and shouted, "No more occupation, end Israeli war crimes."
Police immediately hustled her out of the gallery and Netanyahu continued speaking.
Capitol Police later identified the heckler as Rachel Abileah, and said she was charged with unlawful conduct-disruption of Congress.
CODEPINK, a self-identified peace group, said Abileah lives in San Francisco. The group identified her as a 28-year-old Jewish-American of Israeli descent who has traveled to Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.
