Good Question: How Does CBS 5 Get Stories From The Field?

(CBS 5) – You might have seen CBS 5 trucks driving around the Bay Area, and they're usually still there around news time. In this Good Question: How do we get our stories from the field to the station?

ANSWER: There are essentially two main ways that our stories are transmitted from the field back to the station. One way is by microwaves, which involves a system of feed and receive sites. The second is by transmitting the video from a satellite truck to an orbiting satellite and back down to the station. Either way, the signal is bounced from one point to another until it is received back at the station.
