Armored Car Heist Outside Richmond’s Hilltop Mall

RICHMOND (CBS SF) — Richmond police were searching for two or three men who robbed an armored Brink’s truck outside of a bank near Hilltop Mall Wednesday morning.

The suspects, who had at least one gun, approached an armed Brink’s employee outside the Mechanics Bank at 3170 Hilltop Mall Road at about 9:30 a.m. and demanded money, police Lt. Bisa French said.

After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects left in a gold-colored sedan.

No was injured in the robbery, French added.

Officers were pursuing leads provided by witnesses, but the suspects were still at large, police said.

Police described them only as two or three black men in their 20s.

Anyone with information about the robbery was asked by authorities to call the Richmond Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (510) 233-TIPS.

The driver left in the truck (who is armed) should have jumped out and drilled the bad guys, giving his partner time to draw and fire also. Pretty ballsy stick-up there at the Mall. Possibly and inside set-up deal too(??)

    • 'Your lucky day...

The armed- guard with the money bag ought to thank the robbers that they weren’t in a shooting mood. Money can be replace.
