Zipline Returns To Skies Above SF Financial District

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) - Thrill seekers again have the opportunity to fly high above San Francisco's Financial District with the return of a 750 foot zipline above Justin Herman Plaza.

San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department has teamed up with a Whistler, Canada-based Ziptrek Ecotours to bring back the popular attraction, which appeared in the same location in spring of 2010.

Unlike the 2010 incarnation, which was sponsored, the 2011 zipline will require a $29 fee, a portion of which goes to the San Francisco Parks Department. This year's version will run seven days a week throughout the summer, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

CBS 5's Kristy Siefkin was among the first Friday to take in the views of San Francisco's Embarcadero and Ferry building from 80 feet above the plaza. She described the ride as much smoother than she expected, and well worth the 72 step climb to the top.
