SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – San Francisco Giants All-Star closer Brian Wilson attended the ESPY Awards in a spandex tuxedo Wednesday night. John Madden told the KCBS morning crew that he’s not a fan of outrageous antics by players in team sports.

“Doesn’t it look like he’s trying a little too hard?” Madden asked. “That’s one of the things that bothers me a little, and not only Brian Wilson, but the stuff James Harrison is doing in the NFL, where players in team sports are trying to bring themselves out as individuals.”

Steelers linebacker James Harrison recently posed for a picture in a magazine shirtless and cross-armed holding two handguns. Madden stressed he’s not comparing Harrison’s behavior to Wilson’s. However, he said, “you talk about winning as a team and losing as a team and being part of a team… and there shouldn’t be a lot of ‘Hey, look at me’ in it. That’s for the individual sports… I’ve never really believed in that stuff for team sports.”(8:05)
