(CBS 5) – They slither, hiss and in a worst case scenario, can be very dangerous. In this Good Question: Are there any poisonous snakes in the Bay Area?

ANSWER: According to Mark Calloway of the California Academy of Sciences there are no poisonous snakes indigenous to the Bay Area, but there are venomous snakes. The Northern Pacific rattlesnake has venom that can be fatal to humans.
