Daily Madden: Asomugha's Surprising Move To The Eagles

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Former Raiders Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

"There was all this talk about the Cowboys and the Jets," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "I never read that anyone mentioned that Asomugha was going to the Eagles."

The surprising news is another indication of how quickly deals are being made in this shortened pre-season.

"We knew when this happened, and when they did come back, it was going to be a flurry," said Madden.

Meanwhile, receiver Plaxico Burress was signed by the Jets after serving 20 months in prison on a weapons charge.

"You knew he was going to be signed," Madden said, noting that even the 49ers expressed interest. "There was some pretty heavy competition to get him." (8:50)
