Thousands Turn Up For San Jose Jazz Festival

SAN JOSE (KCBS) – San Francisco's Outside Lands is not the only music festival taking place this weekend as thousands of jazz lovers are gathering in the South Bay for the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest.

This year's headliners include Ramsey Lewis and His Electric Band, David Sanborn, Mavis Staples and Dave Koz.

KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:

Bob Stiner from Elk Grove has been to the event all 22 years and said he's seen everything

"The change in the price has made a big difference. When we first started it was free," he said. "Then it was $5, then it was $10 and now it's $20. But who cares about that with all the music you get. You can't beat it."

San Jose Jazz Executive Director Michael Miller said there's something for everyone.

"What we have is an amazing lineup, 10 different stages, a hundred bands coming to town," said Miller. "There is wild diversity from great jazz to cutting edge jazz, an amazing blues stage and arguably, the best Latin stage in the country."

The San Jose Jazz Summer Fest runs through Sunday evening in downtown San Jose.
