Suspect Identified In Deadly San Jose Nightclub Shootout
SAN JOSE (CBS / AP) -- Authorities have identified a suspect in a shootout at a San Jose nightclub that killed three people, including his two alleged accomplices.
San Jose police said 26-year-old Arturo Velasquez and three other men went to the Mexicali club on Jan. 8 to kidnap the owner over a debt. When the owner was confronted, another man Manuel Mendosa opened fire to defend him, prompting a shootout.
Two of Velasquez's alleged accomplices, Antonio Allon and Manuel Barraza were killed. Mendosa also died in the shootout.
Police used surveillance video to help them identify the remaining suspects. Sgt. Jason Dwyer said Wednesday that Velasquez is seen on video wearing a bulletproof vest and shooting the owner, who survived the attack.
Velasquez and the alleged getaway driver, Hector Milla, both remained at large.
