Tattoos Help Oakland Police Identify Fatal Shooting Victim

OAKLAND (CBS SF) — A man who was fatally shot in East Oakland early Tuesday was identified Thursday as 18-year-old Evan Chapman of Oakland after someone recognized him from photos of his tattoos and called police, authorities said.

Chapman was found shot to death in the 1800 block of 79th Avenue in Oakland, near Arroyo Viejo Park, shortly after midnight Tuesday after police received reports that there had been a shooting.

Oakland police have not released any information about a suspect or a motive in the case.

Police asked for the public’s help in identifying Chapman because they were not able to immediately identify him.

Police released photos of Chapman with stars on his right forearm and the name “Theresa” tattooed on his left forearm.

Lots of millionaires live in Oakland also. Idiot! Stop being a bigot and judging what you’re too ignorant to know. Poverty and misfortune happen to the best of people and this young man clearly didn’t have to be a gang banger (in fact he probably wasn’t; that’s why the police couldn’t identify him because gang-bangers usually have jackets with information like “tattoos and other identifiable markings”. Keep your stupid mouth shut and off of the blogs if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Not many people know but Evan is my little step brother. As for a gang banger? NO. Get over yourself you stereotypic loser. That goes to adam. I loved Evan like no other brotther or sister or friend we had such a special but wierd relationship but we loved it. Of coarse he didnt deserve this. He had goals he is successful and never ever forgotten in our hearts. I hope to see him again. As for the HOOLIGANS OF OAKLAND AND SO MANY OF YOU I KNOW AND TOO MANY OF YOU ARE NO LONGER HERE. YALL NEED TO sTOP THE KILLING BEFORE WE R EXTINCT BEFORE ITS YOUR MOTHER OR YOUR BROTHER OR LIL SISTER OR OTHER HALF.He is a son a brother a friend and should of got to be an uncle we love you DEARLY Evan aka tubby I Love you dearly. See you in the clouds.

My initial thought is that YOU are an IDIOT. But then I figured it out, you are just ignorant, those ARE NOT ‘gang’ tattoos. You need an education on ‘gang’ tattoos. It’s sort of obvious, this guy was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time. Wonder if he was robbed also, if he was and they catch the idiots that did this, HOPEFULLY they will get the Death Penalty, AS THEY SHOULD!

He was my student at one time. He was going places! Evan was so talented and a good kid. This is another senseless death in Oakland. I believe “Theresa” was his Mom’s name. Prayers and condolences go out to his Mom and all who loved him.
