Body Of Missing SJ Man Found In Morgan Hill Ravine

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - The body of a San Jose man whose wife reported him missing Tuesday night was found in a ravine near Morgan Hill Wednesday morning, a spokesman for the Santa Clara County sheriff's office said.

The man, who appears to be in his mid- to late 50s, was found around 9:20 a.m. by a police dog during a Santa Clara County search-and-rescue effort in a ravine near Uvas Road, sheriff's Sgt. Troy Smith said.

"There is no indication of foul play," Smith said, adding that investigators are looking into whether the man died by suicide.

He said the man's wife called authorities around 7 p.m. Tuesday and said that he had not returned from work and that he is considered at-risk because he suffers from several medical conditions.

Deputies went looking for the man Wednesday morning and found his car parked on Uvas Road south of Oak Glen Avenue. The vehicle, a black four-door sedan, was unlocked and the keys were inside, Smith said.

They searched the surrounding area and could not locate anyone, so they called a search-and-rescue team for assistance. Upon arrival, a police dog named Klaus located the body about 50 yards from the car, Smith said.
