Fairfield Children Report Parents' Murder-Suicide

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) - A shooting Thursday evening at a Fairfield home appears to be a murder-suicide when a man fatally shot his wife and then killed himself while their children were at home, police said.

Police received calls of a shooting at a home in the 300 block of Tulip St. around 6:38 p.m. Officers arrived and found a 39-year-old woman and 38-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the torso inside the home's garage. Medical personnel pronounced the two dead at the scene, police said.

Police determined that the man shot his wife of eight years during an argument and then turned the gun on himself. Two witnesses were inside the home during the shooting, but were not injured.

Three of four witnesses who were in or just outside the house are siblings and the suspected shooter and victim were their parents, according to police.

They were interviewed by police and are staying with family in the area.
