Daily Madden: Stiff Challenges For Raiders, Niners

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The 49ers face the Dallas Cowboys at Candlestick and the Oakland Raiders take on the Bills in Buffalo Sunday. John Madden told the KCBS morning crew that it will be difficult for both local teams to stay undefeated.

"It's going to be tougher for both of them this week than it was last week," Madden said. "Buffalo looked good last week (in defeating Kansas City). It's just one game and you're not exactly sure what that means... Have they made a jump and are they a lot better? It could be tough on the Raiders."

The Cowboys lost last week, but the former coach said Dallas is a very good team.

"For three quarters they really dominated the Jets, and the Jets are supposed to be one of the good teams... If you think (Dallas) is not a good team coming in here, you're making a mistake."

John said he likes the Patriots in this weekend's match-up against the Chargers.

"I like both of these passing games, both of these quarterbacks. San Diego probably has a little better defense," John said. But "I don't know how you can go against (New England QB) Tom Brady... He's on a level or a plateau that there are not many people up there with him. He's in rarefied air." (7:55)
