Bicyclist Killed In Dixon Highway 113 Crash

DIXON (CBS SF) - A bicyclist was killed on state Highway 113 near Dixon Sunday afternoon when a car struck him from behind, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The Solano County coroner's office identified the bicyclist as 57-year-old Robert Eugene White, of Ryde in Sacramento County.

CHP officials said the accident happened around 2 p.m. as White was riding his bicycle north on state Highway 113, north of Cook Lane in unincorporated Solano County.

White was riding near the right edge of the road when he was struck by a northbound 2003 Hyundai Tiburon driven by Taylor Boe, 21, of Orange. Boe was about to pass White on the left but hit him instead, according to the CHP.

White was ejected from the bike and struck the Hyundai's windshield on the passenger side, then landed on the road's right shoulder, CHP officials said.

Boe stopped at the scene.

The Dixon Fire Department responded to the collision, which blocked traffic in both directions until 3:30 p.m.

The case remains under investigation but alcohol and drugs are not considered factors, CHP officials said.
