Woman Bitten, Dog Killed In Union City Pit Bull Attack

UNION CITY (CBS SF) – A woman was bitten in Union City on Monday morning when she tried to stop two dogs from attacking her terrier, police said.

The 19-year-old woman was walking her dog on a leash near 10th and H streets around 11:15 a.m. when her terrier was attacked by a 3-year-old female pit bull and a 4-month-old rottweiler-pit bull mix, Union City police said.

Two Union City public works employees who were nearby witnessed the attack and intervened, according to police.

The employees tried to make the pit bull let go of the terrier, but it wouldn’t release the dog. One employee grabbed a shovel from the work truck and hit the pit bull several times until it let go.

The terrier died in the attack.

The employees then tied up one of the dogs and followed the other, and discovered where the dogs lived.

Animal Control officers took both dogs into custody and they were being quarantined at the Tri-City Animal Shelter pending a vicious dog hearing.

Police said the attack was unprovoked.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Union City police at (510) 471-1365 or the anonymous tip line at (510) 675-5207. Tips can also be emailed to tips@unioncity.org.

These stories are getting old! Gotta love “tough guy” with a pit bull! Seriously, why would anybody ever want one of those “dogs” unless it was to intimidate? What, was the pet store out of rattle snakes? Perhaps there was nothing left in the crocodile isle? I know, I know, “my Pit would never hurt a fly.” Yeah sure, that’s what Darla Napora said…(RIP). Time to put a ban of those “dogs” once and for all. It’s like 7 degress of Kevin Bacon; if not directly, everybody at least knows somebody who knows somebody who’s had a terrible experience with one of those “dogs.” Suck on that, Trabek…

sss, We’ll just keep your comments as the “before” to whatever happens next.

You people are such fools. Do you remember “Petey” from the little rascals? He was a pitbull. The first dog to appear on a Marine Corps recruiting poster was a pitbull. Pitbulls can be good or bad, just like people. I would imagine they could also be smart or dumb, just like people. Just as boxers or any other breed of dog can be good or bad. Considering an outright genocide against the breed is a bad idea. You might well use the same argument that all black people are criminals and should be wiped out. Just like most black people, most pitbulls will never harm anyone. Ponder that thought.

Your pitbull is a ticking time bomb programmed by when it starts to see red or charges. There are too many instances of deadly attacks for it to just be owner liability these days. It happens because backyard breeders sell pups to anyone that has a dollar and anyone that has a dollar or a want for these dogs can get their hands on them. Pitbull seekers tend to be uneducated about bloodlines and if they do by chance get a “bloodline” dog they breed them for the cash. They will never breed the aggression out of them, so they should be banished. If you got a pit spay/neuter and hope others will too. Can’t kill it once its here but you can make sure they don’t make offspring.

Hey reality check, I hope you realize that comparing pitbulls to black people only proves how ignorant you really are. YOU need a reality check.
