3 Killed, 3 Injured In San Leandro Parking Lot Shooting

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- Three were killed and three others injured in a shooting outside a party in an industrial area of San Leandro early Sunday morning, police said.

Police were called to the corner of Alvarado Street and Aladdin Avenue at 1:20 a.m. after receiving a 911 call that shots had been fired in the area, said San Leandro police Sgt. Doug Calcagno.

When police arrived, they discovered that several people had been shot shortly after the party let out. Medical attention was given to the victims, but three were pronounced dead at the scene.

KCBS' Bob Melrose Reports:

Two were transported to the hospital by ambulance, and another shooting victim transported himself to the hospital by unknown means.

Calcagno said he did not know whether their injuries were life threatening at this time.

Calcagno said preliminary investigations of the incident suggest the party was in a warehouse or office space and was advertised on the Internet. He said police are still trying to track down the owners of the business park where the shooting happened, to see who rented the building.

He said that after the party was over, while the attendees were in the parking lot, they were approached by at least two gunmen who opened fire and a total of six people were shot.

Calcagno said it is unknown whether the gunmen had attended the party or arrived afterwards.

Police are asking for the public's assistance in their investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call San Leandro police directly or to call the tip line at (510) 577-3278.
