Construction Delay Suspends Caltrain Service In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Caltrain has resumed service between two San Francisco stations after service was suspended for several hours Saturday because of construction delays, an agency spokeswoman said Saturday afternoon.

During the disruption, there was no Caltrain service between the 22nd Street station and the Bayshore station. Normal service had resumed by 1:50 p.m., some six hours after the interruption began.

Passengers in San Francisco traveling further south than 22nd Street were forced to transfer to BART, as were passengers traveling north to San Francisco from points south of Bayshore, Christine Dunn said.

Dunn said the temporary changes were necessary because of delays in a construction project replacing a railroad bridge crossing Jerrold Avenue in the city's Bayview District.

A free shuttle transferred passengers between the Powell Street BART station and the 22nd Street Caltrain station, and BART honored Caltrain tickets during the disruption, she said.
