WHITEHAWK, Plumas County (CBS/AP) — A magnitude-4.8 earthquake shook a number of communities in the Sierra Nevada late Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS said the quake struck at 11:37 Wednesday night and was centered nine miles south-southeast of Whitehawk, about 90 miles northeast of Sacramento.

A Nevada County sheriff’s dispatcher in Truckee said it was a rolling quake and no damages and no injuries were reported. But the dispatcher said there were a few calls from alarmed residents.
