Bay Bridge 75th Anniversary Celebration Honors Woman Born On Span
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - A Peninsula college student in attendance at a Caltrans ceremony to mark the 75th anniversary of the Bay Bridge had an unusual claim to fame: she was born on the span.
Rebecca Ghaly received a special proclamation from Caltrans during last week's ceremony.
KCBS' Bob Melrose Reports:
On Sept. 19, 1986, Ghaly's mother was en route to a prenatal appointment in San Francisco. While crossing the span, she went into labor. That's when - and where - Ghaly was born.
"She told me my father was pre-med and he delivered me ... and his classmates and teachers were so proud of him," Ghaly recounted the story her mother tells about her birth.
