6 Detained In Menlo Park Shooting

MENLO PARK (KCBS) – Six men have been detained after someone opened fire on officers in Menlo Park early Sunday morning.

Several law enforcement agencies from around the county were called to a house on Hollyburne Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. on a report that there were six armed men in front of the residence.

In a statement, Menlo Park police said that one of the men fired at the responding officers, who returned fire after the men took off.

KCBS' Bob Butler Reports:

Several local residents and business owners in the area said planes could be heard overhead throughout the early morning hours as officials searched the Belle Haven neighborhood for the men.

Police said the men that were detained ranged from ages 19-to-31. All of the detainees are being questioned, although there were no injuries in the shooting.

Hollyburne was cordoned off for several hours on Sunday morning as police investigated the scene of the shooting.
