Occupy Oakland Shooting Suspect Arraigned

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of fatally shooting a man near the former Occupy Oakland encampment at Frank Ogawa Plaza last month was arraigned on a murder charge Friday.

Norris Terrell, a 21-year-old Oakland man, fled the area after allegedly shooting 25-year-old Occupy Oakland resident Kayode Foster just before 5 p.m. on Nov. 10 but was arrested in Lexington, Ky., on Nov. 27, police said.

He was extradited to Alameda County earlier this week.

Terrell, who frequented the Occupy Oakland encampment and was being held without bail at the county jail, was scheduled to return to Alameda County Superior Court on Tuesday to be assigned an attorney and possibly enter a plea, police said.

In addition to murder, Terrell was charged with shooting into an inhabited dwelling because one of the bullets he allegedly aimed at Foster went through a bank window and grazed a worker inside.

Four other suspects have also been arrested in connection with the shooting. Three have been charged with assaulting Foster shortly before Terrell allegedly shot him and one man has been charged with being an accessory in the incident.
