After purchasing tuna, beef jerky and energy bars for troops in Afghanistan at a Fremont Lucky store, Blue Star Moms found some unusual activity on their account.

"There were charges from San Jose, down to LA and Anaheim, which were not ours," said Anna Vanegas, president of South Bay Blue Star Moms.

She said that they, not only had those charges reversed, but Lucky also made a generous donation to their cause.

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

"We just love the fact that communities are now aware of the troops still being deployed," said Vanegas.

The group was one of hundreds of Bay Area shoppers who were robbed after swiping their cards at in the self-check out aisle at Lucky. Lucky spokeswoman Alicia Rockwell said the Secret Service is looking at the fraudulent charges as part of a national probe of organized crime.

"They have investigated other similar activities in card readers across the country with other retailers. This is all part of their larger investigation," said Rockwell.
